I Like To Chew My Food And It's Meant To Just Be Swallowed. Now The Okro Soup 10/10. I Loved Every Bite Of It. Africans Don't Make Their Meat Bone Tender So Dont Go Looking For That Because The Meat Is Hard. I'm Jamaican And Love Okra & Saltfish So The Sliminess Didnt Bother Me, But It Was Sooooo Flavorful With Spice. There Is Tripe In The Soups Which I Dont Eat But They Will Avoid It If You Tell Them You Dont Want Any. (Do Be Cautious If You Gonna Eat With Your Hands, I Did My Nails Before Going And Have Some Small Stains From The Oil But It's Not Super Noticeable But Thats On Me) Deborah Made My Experience Really Good. I Told Her It Was First Time And She Was Very Helpful And Ensured I Got What I Was Looking For And She Was So Sweet. She Told Me Mix The Palm Oil Soup With The Okro Soup And I Liked It! I Would Recommend And I Shall Be Going Back. ”

“ Great restaurant and such a warm welcome from the staff and owner who let us try samples of their different stews/soups and rice. Make sure you let them know about any allergies. The plantains were outstanding, sp was the waakye (rice and beans). A little spicy but delicious. Great for takeout, or casual dine in with friends. Very affordable and flavorful. Don't be intimating if you don't know what something is, you can just ask or try it! What made it extra was definitely how friendly and nice the owner was. Great address and authentic Ghanaian food. ”

“ First impressions: Quiet (which I liked) and Popular to Africans so it must be good! This restaurant caught my eye when I was on my way to an event, the day before, i a Lyft. I mentioned it to my loved ones that we had to try it out. And we went the day the next day! I love the marquee on the front. It's very eye-catching and welcoming. When I entered the restaurant, there was a medium sized line of people around in the afternoon on a Sunday. Be mindful of people who may want to cut the line lol. When it was my turn to be served, I noticed that there weren't any signs on the food, paper menus or screen menus so I had to go based off of my sister's knowledge of food we have eaten at our Ghanaian friends' houses or events that we have attended that served the foods that were presented. The servers were friendly to me when I asked what each of the food items were which i wad grateful for. I noticed from observing other people when they were ordering that you can ask to them to avoid some of the meat when getting the stews. I believe everything, but the fish has multiple meats in it. If you only want chicken to be served in your stew they just pick out all of the pork or turkey pieces if you want all the meat but chicken they will pick those out. I loved how generous the helpings were however, when taking it to go, my bag overflowed, and I lost a good portion of my okra stew when I arrived at home. It would have be nice if there were signs explaining what each item was, the pricing. Even having a menu that explains what each item is in the Ghanaian language of choice and English so that people can read through when they're waiting online. I noticed that there are TVs in the background that can possibly display the menu items. I am curious to try the drinks that they have that are from Ghana. I will order one that I haven't tried before next time. My sister and I both got the okra stew with plantain Fufu which smelled amazing and tasted delicious. I ordered Shitto to go with my meal and to have over throughout the week with my meals. It's also known as pepper sauce that has bits of fish in it similar to the chili sauce is that Asian communities use but better. I really liked the turkey and chicken pieces in my soup. I wasn't a fan of the pork, so I'll be mindful to ask for the specific meat options next time I order. In regards to ambience, I would say it's casual canteen style restaurant that is laid-back and had a traditional feel. I feel like everyone comes for the quality of the food as opposed to the aesthetic of the restaurant. I'm glad they had a sit down place for people who may be traveling from afar it would be nice to see more of the country's culture in the interior design, decor and music lightly playing in the background. I look forward to coming back! ”

“ Went to visit my brother last month and he got a bunch of goodness from this African restaurant. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions. I believe that they have another spot in Harlem. We got some good fish and some soup. Both hit the spot with some of that good food that sticks to your soul. I added some chili oil he had at home to the soup and damn, made me feel great. The fish was well seasoned and went well with the rice and onions we got!! Will definitely be back!! ”

“ I have a more western palate so my favorite dishes are biased in that sense. The jollof rice was excellent and the addition of meat with what I believe is pepper sauce is the perfect topping. We got the spinach stew and beans in one plate together and that combination makes perfect sense to my taste buds. The egusi and okra stews were both tasty, just two foods I am not as accustomed to eating. I also prefer the more neutral flavor of fufu compared to pounded yam. Overall I'd come back and order again. The food travelled well but they also have a sit down area. It was a little busy when I came but the service was good and the worker helped me through my gaps in knowledge when it came to the right pairings for things. ”

“ The food is A+! All the soups and stews are very tasty and homemade. Ask the prices first is all I will say. There is no menu board so you have to ask to know the price of the food you want. The price is totally reasonable for the amount of food they give. With the rice dishes, I have always left with enough food for 3 servings and that's just with a small. The large easily can feed 4. It's rice, meat, and a scoop of soup if you will like and different toppings. The toppings are onions, garri, spaghetti, pepper sauce. The Flavor is Amazing! The joloff rice and waakye is really good. The rice grain is whats different than I was used to growing up as a child. They use enriched long grained rice and I am used to parboiled long grained rice. The soups like Egusi, Palmnut, Light soup, Okra, Spinach are all GOOD! They have the right spices and are definitely made the right way. There is always a line and they move slow. It's like 2 women who serve the food and take the money. However when you get called next they are alright but not the nicest. I understand because it's only those two people serving the foods and with customers ordering the food in different names because they serve alot of different West African foods and they are older women. It's a grab and go situation as the seating area is being used to store supplies due to Covid. Check out Accra. The sister restaurant in Harlem is my go to spot but if I'm in this area I will come here. ”
